Progress is being made on the Vestavia Hills southern gateway improvement project.

Mayor Butch Zaragoza previously stated that the city of Vestavia Hills’ current gateways such as the Sibyl Temple help make a great first impression for visitors but the intersection of Interstate 65 and U.S. 31 needs improvement.

In 2014, the city hired engineering firm Goodwyn Mills & Cawood to redesign the space and Blackjack Horticulture to work on landscape improvements at the I-65 interchange. The project is expected to complete this spring.
