MOUNTAIN BROOK - The city's of Mountain Brook, Homewood and Vestavia Hills gathered at the Mountain Brook Fire Department in Crestline Village Saturday, Sept. 11 for the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony and Patriot's Day in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Arlington, Va. on Sept. 11, 2001. Mayor Stewart Welch welcomed those in attendance for the ceremony and Mountain Brook Fire Chief Chris Mullins introduced Ret. Air Force Col. Brian Hastings, EMA director for the State of Alabama, as the keynote speaker, followed by Congressman Gary Palmer and Mayor Ashley Curry, of the City of Vestavia Hills.
