The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified the victim of a fire in Vestavia Hills on July 10.

Alan Johnson Perry, 66, was killed during an early-morning fire in the 2900 block of Donita Court, deputy coroner Phillip Russell said on Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to the home at about 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday after a Vestavia Hills police officer called in the fire, VHFD Captain Ryan Farrell said. Perry and another person were removed from the home by firefighters. The other victim was taken to Grandview Medical Center.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is unknown, and there is not an official cause of death for Perry listed, though Russell said it's likely to be smoke inhalation.
