2015 Year in preview: New southern gateway

Mayor Butch Zaragoza has stated that the city of Vestavia Hills’ current gateways such as the Sibyl Temple help make a great first impression for visitors. However, he noted that the intersection of Interstate 65 and U.S. 31 needs improvement.

The city hired engineering firm Goodwyn Mills & Cawood to redesign the space. The ALDOT permits have been received, and Blackjack Horticulture has started work on landscape improvements at the I-65 interchange. The project is expected to take a couple of months and should be finished by spring of this year.
