In July, Verizon and the Birmingham Barons hosted a HopeLine drive at Barons game where IMPACT Family Counseling, located in Vestavia Hills, received a grant check for $1,500.

Verizon presented grants to several Alabama nonprofit organizations that work to prevent domestic violence issues by promoting healthy relationships. IMPACT provides outpatient counseling and a variety of other services such as mentoring, relationship education, family strengthening and anger management.

Hopeline from Verizon collects accessories and no-longer-used cell phones from any carrier and in any condition to be recycled or sold and donate the proceeds in the form of cash grants and pre-paid wireless phones to advocacy groups for use by survivors. Fans were asked to donate their used devices at the game.
