Free workshop on active listening

A new workshop at the Vestavia Public Library will teach people how to actively listen to others.

It will be held June 11 from 6-7:30 p.m. in Tree House meeting room of the library.

The session will cover the attributes of an active listener (Adult, Complimenter, Tracks, Inspires, Verifies, Encourages).

Len Corcoran, the workshop leader, will have participants complete several different exercises to begin developing active listening skills. He has been conducting leadership, public speaking, sales and management training sessions for more than 40 years, and is also author of Patterns for Change; Patterns for Supervising People; Marketing’s Ultimate Sales Track (It’s a M.U.S.T.); and So You Have to Give a Speech Tomorrow.

Vestavia Toastmasters is the sponsors of this workshop and plans to offer a series of leadership workshops as part of its membership drive. Everyone attending the workshops will have the opportunity to become a member of Vestavia Toastmasters. Those who join will have ample opportunity to practice active listening as well as develop other leadership skills. Vestavia Toastmasters is one of the 2800 clubs in Toastmasters International.
