Cahaba Heights family in the running to receive mobility van

by

In early March, the Huie family from Cahaba Heights was involved in a multi-car accident on I-459. The accident left parents MaryAnn and Kenneth paralyzed. The family is now in the running to receive a mobility van as part of National Mobility Awareness Month.

Currently, Kenneth remains in ICU recovering from a severed spine, broken ribs and two deflated lungs. MaryAnn suffered a broken neck and is currently undergoing physical therapy in a rehabilitation facility.

Having a mobility van will allow the Huie family to lead a normal life and allow MaryAnn and Kenneth the ability to be mobile. MaryAnn is the leader of a local Girl Scout troop and an active member of the PTO in her children's school. She and Kenneth have two daughters at Vestavia Hills Elementary Cahaba Heights and one daughter at Liberty Park Middle School.

Click here to vote for the family to receive a mobility van through the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association. Voting runs through May 31.
