Early morning vehicle fire reported on I-459

A pickup truck on I-459 crashed into the inside guardrail and caught on fire early this morning.

The truck had a tire blow out, said Lt. Scott Thurmond with Birmingham Police, which caused the vehicle to lose control and run into the median. It was reported around 3:54 a.m.

The accident occurred at I-459 southbound near Liberty Parkway. Both passengers of the truck were transported to UAB Hospital, and Thurmond said the extent of their injuries was unknown.
