Council discusses U.S. 31 development, library funds

During Monday's meeting, the City Council approved a resolution authorizing a special economic development agreement for a planned retail shopping center at 1099 Montgomery Highway. The agreement includes $1.6 million in incentives to be covered by the city in order to offset infrastructure costs. GBT Realty Corporation announced they are in the second phase of site investigation and examining specific issues of storm water damage. They are preparing a draft of the lease with the primary tenant and targeting on closing a transaction by the end of the year.

The council also passed a resolution authorizing the purchase of additional technology equipment and construction of a pedestrian circulation plan for Library in the Forest through the use of grant funds. Library Director Taneisha Tucker said the funds would go toward replacing the library's computers that are out of warranty.
