City accepting applications for upcoming BOE vacancy

The Vestavia Hills City Council is now accepting applications for the upcoming vacancy on the Vestavia Hills Board of Education.

The new BOE member will take over for Nancy Corona, who is currently the BOE president, in June.

Applications are available online or by contacting City Clerk Rebecca Leavings at 978-0841 or rleavings@vhal.org.

The deadline to submit a completed application is 5 p.m. on Monday, April 9.

For this vacancy, the Council has opted to set up two half days of interviews rather than one full day, in order to accommodate those with tighter schedules.

The first day of interviews will take place on April 12 starting at 8 a.m., and the second on April 17 starting at 1 p.m.

Applicants can specify in their application which date they prefer, but slots are limited and first-come, first-serve. Applicants also have the option to be considered without an interview.

Interviews are open to the public, but comment from the audience will only be taken at the call of the mayor.
