Ammons seeks re-election to City Council

by

Steve Ammons, who currently serves at Place 3 on the Vestavia Hills City Council, officially qualified last week to run for re-election in the upcoming municipal election.

Ammons, who is also currently serving as Mayor Pro-Tem, has lived in Vestavia Hills off and on since 1978 when his family moved to the area, and currently resides in the Cahaba Heights area.

Originally elected to the Council in 2008, Ammons said he is focusing on quality of life and economic development by "maintaining the city’s strong financial position through responsible budgeting and sustaining a robust reserve."

He said he also wants to continue to work with first responders to make sure they have all the resources they need to keep the public safe, as well as working with Parks and Recreation to improve facilities for all ages.

Ammons has two boys, both of whom attend Vestavia Hills High School, and he is a member of Church of the Highlands.

Ammons is a founding member of the Vestavia Hills Sunrise Rotary Club, is on the Blue Ribbon Committee on Professional Management for Municipalities, is a member of the 2010 class of Leadership Vestavia Hills and is heavily involved with the Birmingham Youth Lacrosse Association and Alabama Lacrosse Association.

More information about Ammons and his campaign can be found on the campaign's Facebook page.

Robert De Buys and Paul Head are also running for Place 3 on the Council.
