Trader Joe's announces opening date

Trader Joe’s has announced an opening date for its new location at The Summit. The specialty food store is scheduled to open on Oct. 2 at 8 a.m.

The location, 209 Summit Blvd., is on the western side of the shopping mall between Belk and Barnes & Noble. Banana Republic was previously in the space but has since moved to the eastern side of The Summit.

This store, the first Trader Joe’s in Alabama, was first announced in September.

The store sells about 3,000 items under the Trader Joe’s private labels. It also takes brand name products and places them under the Trader Joe’s label to sell at discounted prices.
