Soon, two longtime businesses in Vestavia Hills will merge into one. Kwik Kopy Printing, which has been owned by Jim Anderson since 1991, will merge with The UPS Store he’s owned since 1999.

The services provided at Kwik Kopy, located at 2017 Canyon Road Suite 111, will be carried over to the UPS at 732 Montgomery Highway, which is being expanded to make room for the addition, Anderson said. The only difference for Kwik Kopy customers will be their invoice, which will say “UPS Store,” instead of Kwik Kopy, Anderson said.

Anderson said he’s always had the idea to merge the two stores and recently brought up the idea with his landlord at UPS, located next to Publix. The move is a way for Anderson, whose parents founded the Kwik Kopy store in 1984, to save money, as rent will be half of what it is now. Since UPS already has a front counter, office space, a bathroom and other amenities, those won’t have to be carried over during the expansion, Anderson said.

In addition to saving money, customers who use Kwik Kopy will now benefit from the longer hours maintained by UPS. Kwik Kopy closed at 3 p.m., but UPS closes at 6:30 and is also open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Anderson said he has many long-standing customers in the city and has been involved in the community for many years, and he encouraged residents to shop local.

“Let’s keep the tax dollars in Vestavia,” Anderson said.

Kwik Kopy Printing’s last day of business will be Sept. 14 as of press time, and Kwik Kopy Printing’s services will be fully operational at The UPS Store on Sept. 17.
