Liberty Park will soon be home to a brand new retail center. Sanders Capital Partners, a Birmingham development and acquisition firm, today announced plans for a $3 million development in the neighborhood.

The center, according to a news release, will be located adjacent to the existing Prominence Shops. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2016. Developers expect “substantial completion” of the project during the summer of 2016.

“We are so pleased to be starting this much needed project in the ever-expanding Liberty Park and nearby Mountain Brook communities,” said Vice President of Sanders Capital, Brooks Sanders, according to the release. “We are gratified by the enthusiastic response we have received from prospective tenants, neighbors, and the City of Vestavia Hills. We look forward to delivering a high quality center with a complementary mix of restaurants and retailers to serve the community.”

Your Pie pizzeria, a build-it-yourself restaurant, is the first business to lease space in the development. This will be the second Birmingham location of the pizzeria, according to the release, the first of which is scheduled to open this month in the SoHo area of Homewood.

Architect Williams Blackstock will design the 9,000-square-foot property. Stewart Perry Company will serve as general contractor and Schoel Engineering will provide civil design services. ARC Realty will be in charge of leasing the property.
