Laney Parks is set to stay in the Birmingham area as she continues playing softball.
Parks, a senior at Vestavia Hills High School, signed her National Letter of Intent for Samford University on Sunday, Nov. 15. Parks also received a softball scholarship from Samford.
Parks has played softball since she was 9 years old and traveled around the U.S. looking at schools before deciding to go to Samford, said her mother, Clare Parks.
“We’re extremely proud,” Clare said. “She spent a lot of time and sacrificed a lot to get to this point, and traveling year round, it’s difficult being a teenager, but it paid off in the end.”
